Princess Daisy, the Belittled Mario Princess

 ....Just... ...*Sigh*

Just a little after a month we have yet ANOTHER pic to add to the Super Mario Legends series! Some of you probably saw this coming...Maybe some of you hadn't picked up on my 'trend' yet...But yes, right after EVERYONE'S FAVORITE MAN IN GREEN....LUIGI!   We have the Princess Or QUEEN if you're in the 'current time' of the MC Universe! of Sarasaland Which we STILL need to see again by the way Nintendo. Daisy!  

And yes, I completely stand by this title I have here...Out of the '3' since so many people seem to 'accept' that Rosalina is a 'Princess', she 'rules' over the Lumas so I guess that's justified. Princesses DAISY is the one that gets 'mistreated' the most.... She started out as a 'major' Mario character and now she gets cast aside by the likes of 'Blue and Yellow Toad' And I LOVE playing the Toads over Mario and Luigi btw, but I still feel that a 'major' Mario protagonist deserves a spot as a playable character over 2 seemingly 'random' side characters....If it were TOAD *the MAIN Toad and not these two* then I would be more accepting of that...But it's NOT. and of course Rosalina.....(Yeah yeah, I won't go into a HUGE MC rant about my feelings of Rosalina, but I WILL say that I don't 'dislike' her as much as I did in the past...YES I still think Rosalina getting put into Mario Adventure games (AND Smash Bros) OVER Daisy is complete BULL...Considering Daisy has put in a LOT more contribution and years into the Mario series (almost DOUBLE the number of years actually) than Rosalina has (plus Daisy's character/personality FITS a lot better into these sorts of games than Rosalina's does. Rosalina is a motherly figure, you don't really see her 'fight' in Super Mario Galaxy...So a character like that feels REALLY out of place in these games... ) But I've ranted enough about Rosalina...Plus I know the 'ignoring' ISN'T just because of Rosalina, so it's hardly fair to throw all the blame onto her.

We all have our likes and dislikes...Personally I'm not a 'fan' of Daisy, much like Peach she's more on the neutral side...Though I guess I like Daisy a tad more than Peach (but not by much...) only because Daisy doesn't take crap from villains, she got caught ONCE...And it NEVER happened again...And when villains DO give her crap (like Bowser in Mario Party 3) she takes her gloves off and fights back...A character doesn't HAVE to be strong and win all the time, we just want to see them TRY and help themselves NOT just seemingly 'give up' and expect somebody else to do the fighting for them...And Daisy does just that. We just don't get to see that anymore because Nintendo refuses to give her the opportunity... (Same goes for Birdo and Waluigi who ALSO have potential to prove themselves and just aren't given the opportunity...)

I haven't talked to a LOT of people who dislike Daisy, most people I talk to either LOVE her or they're indifferent to her...Though the few people I HAVE found that 'hate' her...Seem to have ONE thing in common...

They hate her over a SINGLE quote/voice over....



Yes...All this hate over a SINGLE sentence.... (Yes there probably are more reasons, but THIS is the only reason I seem to be getting...Along with the "She's so annoying." statement, WHICH that said quote is more often than not the REASON for that opinion. ) We all have our opinions and at first I didn't get why all that 'hate' was given over that quote...THEN I played Mario Kart: Double Dash and I CONSTANTLY heard that voice clipped OVER and OVER....  And YES it WAS annoying....So yes, I get that annoying feeling...

BUT it's just ONE voice clip and it is NOT put in EVERY game Daisy appears in...So I honestly still feel that this is an UNFAIR reason to hate on a person (fiction or not).... (Even if I DO groan in frustration every time I play Double Dash now... )

However, like I said it's unlikely that EVERY 'Daisy hater' has the SAME reason for disliking her...And honestly we don't necessarily HAVE to give a reason as to why we dislike or like the things that we do...We all have an opinion and as much as we may disagree with each other, we all need to respect that...We're not all going to like and dislike the same things and that's why we all enjoy things differently.

I just know that I wish that this Mario Princess got a lot more appreciation from Nintendo...They created her 18 years ago...And it would be a shame to see her fade out of existence...

Artists' Comments: Yeah....As you saw at the 'top' of this description....I'm not entirely happy with this piece....(As much as I wanted to give Daisy proper representation....I feel this is my 'worst' pic in the series.... ) 

1. As usual I DIDN'T fit her entire body onto the page...Thus causing proportion issues...and
2. Her face.... 

I try, try SO hard to do humans I REALLY do...But something always seems to go wrong....And this mistake I feel REALLY makes Daisy look slightly 'off'....And that's me trying to be 'kind' to myself... I LOVE the coloring and shading...But those 2 mistakes REALLY get in the way...Once again the 'Inking' process put me into this pit again...At first the pic looked okay, but I QUICKLY realized I had made a mistake after I finished Inking and erased the 'pencil marks' And sadly the Inking PREVENTED me from fixing my mistakes...(You can't really erase INK.... )

I really like Daisy's 'icon' as well...I just wish the most IMPORTANT aspect came out that good...

But I really need to stop spewing negativity... It's been AGES since I've drawn Daisy...(March 8, 2014 to be exact... ) So I guess I've at least improve a BIT since then....
